An Unforgettable Voyage of Discovery

Come aboard the research and excursion vessel Challenger and experiment with a lab at sea. Survey coastal habitats using a variety of collection and analysis equipment, or cruise the coast looking for migrating water fowl, whales, seals, sea lions and dolphins. Choose from any of our proven marine science excursions and dockside programs, and the Long Beach Marine Institute will conduct a fantastic age-appropriate oceanography field trip just for you and your group aboard its one-of-a-kind oceanographic research vessel. Floating Lab excursions and programs focus on fundamental concepts in marine ecology, concentrating on local marine habitats and the organisms that make these places their homes. Each tour comes complete with preparation material for both teachers and students, including pre-trip and follow-up projects. Shipboard excursions and field trips are our specialty, and they are enjoyed by students and enthusiasts of all ages–from the inquizitive toddler to the seasoned retiree.
