Long Beach Marine Institute is offering
for the first time a special early teen
program that is especially designed
for the future oceanographer. A mix
of science and adventure, this three
week program is as exciting as summer
camp can get. Almost every day has a
fascinating field trip, from the tidepools
to the deep blue sea, campers will interact
with everything from sea stars to pelagic
fish!
Week
One, "Habitats" will
include a snorkeling trip to the Long
Beach Breakwater to see what kind of
subtidal organisms have made their home
there. We'll continue the week with
a tour of the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium
and wrap the first session up with a
special research excursion aboard the
excursion vessel Conqueror! July 18-22, 2005, $210
Week
Two, "Fish & Technology"
will introduce the teens to some very
interesting technological wonders as they
apply to oceanography and marine biology.
We will get "behind the scenes"
tours of the Aquarium of the Pacific.
We'll set out on a research excursion
aboard LBMI's vessel "Conqueror,"and
finish the week with a fishing trip! July 25-29, 2005, $210
Week
Three, "Adaptations,"
is the climax of our summer program! We
will be exploring the upper Newport Bay
with kayaks, snorkeling at Corona Del
Mar and inspecting the tide pools there,
we'll set off on another research trip
aboard "Conqueror" and, campers
will get to visit the magnificent Queen
Mary. August 1-5, 2005, $395
